THE ROLE
As a Senior Account Manager, you will be responsible for client retention, growth, and expansion, ensuring clients maximize the value of our sustainability solutions. You will own the contract renewal process, proactively identifying expansion opportunities and deepening client relationships through strategic engagement.
Working closely with Business Development Managers, Sales Leadership, and internal sustainability experts, you will act as a trusted advisor, guiding clients through carbon reduction strategies, environmental markets, and corporate sustainability best practices. You will also play a key role in stakeholder engagement, ensuring that internal and external stakeholders are aligned to drive impactful climate action initiatives.
This role requires a commercially driven, proactive professional with exceptional communication, project management, and organizational skills. You should have a strong ability to manage complex client relationships, translate technical sustainability concepts into compelling narratives, and facilitate cross-functional collaboration. The role will report directly to the Senior VP, Client Solutions, Americas.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Client Success & Retention: Develop deep client relationships, and strategic account growth management plans. Execute those plans aligned to their business objectives and aligned our solutions to deliver measurable impact.
- Contract Renewals & Expansion: Own the renewal process, identifying upsell opportunities and helping clients scale their sustainability commitments.
- Strategic Advisory: Serve as a trusted sustainability partner, providing insights on environmental markets, carbon reduction strategies, and renewable energy procurement.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal teams, senior client stakeholders, and external partners to ensure seamless program execution and alignment with corporate sustainability goals.
- Client Engagement & Communication: Develop and execute engagement strategies, including presentations, proposals, thought leadership content, and communications that effectively communicate the value of our programs.
- Certification & Compliance: Ensure that clients with CarbonNeutral® certification remain compliant with certification requirements.
- Data & Account Management: Maintain accurate client data, environmental instrument inventories, and account plans, leveraging Salesforce to track interactions and opportunities.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- Proven account management experience in a client-facing B2B role, with a strong track record of contract renewals, upselling, and stakeholder engagement.
- Experience in the VCM or environmental markets and a passion for sustainability and climate topics.
- Ability to think strategically about client relationships, understanding their long-term objectives and translating them into actionable sustainability solutions.
- Strong experience in managing stakeholder engagement, both internally and externally, to ensure smooth execution of sustainability programs.
- Experience communicating complex sustainability concepts to diverse audiences, including non-technical stakeholders.
- Exceptional time management, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
- Commercially minded, with the ability to work under pressure and drive results.
- Enthusiastic contributor who likes to win as a team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High proficiency in MS Office (PowerPoint & Excel) and CRM tools such as Salesforce.
