THE ROLE
In this role, you will lead major commercial opportunities from concept through to deal execution, both for projects where Climate Impact Partners acts as Project Developer and for other structures, including service-based agreements. This includes due diligence, negotiation, structuring and contracting.
You will work closely with Technical Managers, Carbon Project Delivery, Legal, Finance and wider Commercial colleagues to ensure opportunities are assessed rigorously and structured to support delivery, fundraising and long-term portfolio value. The role also focuses on managing and supporting a pipeline of new opportunities while improving the tools, models and standards used to assess and execute them.
Reporting to the Commercial Director and sitting alongside a Senior Contract Manager and Senior Origination & Commercial Manager, you will work across project development, delivery and go-to-market teams. The role serves as a key commercial lead on new project opportunities, helping Climate Impact Partners define quality, identify and manage risk early, and develop investable opportunities that meet the needs of project partners, corporate clients and financial investors. It is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys relationship-building, commercial problem-solving and structured deal development. As Climate Impact Partners expands its project portfolio and continues to develop multi-year deal structures as part of its ongoing strategy, this role will be central to shaping that growth.
We’re particularly interested in candidates who bring strong financial capability, enjoy building effective internal processes and governance, and are motivated by working in a way that reflects Climate Impact Partners’ values.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Origination and pipeline development:
o Originate and screen new carbon project development opportunities, focusing on projects that align with Climate Impact Partners' commercial objectives, quality standards and strategic priorities.
o Manage a pipeline of opportunities from early-stage discussions through diligence, internal approvals, negotiation and readiness for contracting.
o Help define and refine the criteria, tools and judgement frameworks used to assess strong project opportunities.
o Build strong relationships with project counterparties, implementation partners, NGOs, private-sector developers and other stakeholders involved in opportunity development.
Commercial structuring and diligence:
o Lead commercial due diligence on project opportunities, working closely with technical colleagues on technical, standards and delivery diligence.
o Develop commercial propositions and deal structures that balance risk and reward for Climate Impact Partners, project partners, corporates and financial institutions.
o Support and lead financial modelling, scenario analysis and investment case development for new opportunities, including emerging commercial structures and market mechanisms.
o Coordinate internal inputs to diligence processes and support external diligence requests, including preparing materials for investors, corporate clients and financial institutions.
Negotiation, fundraising and market development:
o Lead contract and commercial negotiations with project counterparties through to agreed deal terms and handover for execution.
o Support fundraising and commercial discussions with corporates, funders and financial institutions by presenting project opportunities, answering diligence questions and shaping credible commercial propositions.
o Act as a key commercial contributor on developments in the carbon market, including evolving policy and mechanisms such as Article 6, and translate them into practical structuring approaches where relevant.
o Represent the commercial perspective internally by providing clear recommendations, highlighting key risks and supporting effective decision-making.
Systems, standards and cross-functional contribution:
o Develop and improve standards for financial modelling, commercial diligence and opportunity assessment across the project development function.
o Create feedback loops from live and prospective deals to improve how Climate Impact Partners originates, evaluates and structures future opportunities.
o Contribute to the development of commercial products, processes and tools that improve the function's scalability and consistency.
o Support site visits and in-country diligence where required as part of project assessment and relationship development.
